Introduction: Part of your trading journey requires experimental periods where you test trade plans. If it’s your first time trading stocks, I recommend a simulator for at least 2 months before putting real capital into play.
Tools: There are many simulators out there. Some are offered through your broker and others can be found in the app store. Simply search “stock simulator” and you will be met with a plethora of options.
(Some of my favorite paper trading accounts)
Why Do Traders Lose: Most traders lack the discipline to take paper accounts seriously. They fail to acknowledge all of their rules and become sloppy, gambling all their “money” away. Unsurprisingly, when they take their practices to the real market, they get cooked. The whole point of a paper trading account is to prevent you from getting burned when you put real money into play. Hence, the importance of taking your paper account seriously. It is vital that you use every resource available to develop strategies that works best for you. It took me 3 years to develop a strategy that can exponentially grow accounts. Amidst these years, I paper traded a total of 6 months and still managed to lose all my money twice.
The Solution: Right now, you have two options. First, you can take the time to research and develop a strategy that outperforms the market. I recommend starting on YouTube, reading different books, and utilizing occasional posts from the newsletter. These are all valid sources that you should use to help further develop skills. Your other option is to learn and implement the strategies I use into your own trade plan. Simply by following my trades and reading previous lesson posts, you can get a three-year head start that will prepare you for trading in the active market. Though our paid subscription will place you leaps ahead of any trading level, it is still good to do your due diligence and to start with paper money before fully adopting my strategy.
